Transferring to Marywood

  • Transfer Students

If you demonstrate satisfactory academic performance at another college or university, you may apply for admission as a transfer student. Academic courses presented for transfer should be equivalent to courses required by the programs of study at Marywood. You must earn a minimum of 60 credits at Marywood University; ordinarily at least one-half of the credits required for a major must also be earned at Marywood.

What courses will transfer?

You may receive credit for courses successfully completed at another accredited college with a minimum of "C" grade or better. Technical or career-oriented courses normally do not satisfy requirements for baccalaureate degree programs at Marywood. Generally, courses completed more than twenty years prior to enrollment may not be applied to a baccalaureate degree at Marywood. Courses accepted for transfer become part of the your official academic record. However, grades are not transferred and are not included in the calculation of your grade point average at Marywood.

When do I apply for transfer?

You should apply for transfer to Marywood no later than three weeks before classes begin for fall, spring, or summer session.

What’s the transfer process?

Contact the Office of University Admissions to talk with one of our knowledgeable and friendly admissions counselors. You will get answers to all your transfer questions and help with the application process. To apply, you will need to submit the following:

  • Completed application form with the $35 application fee. If you apply online, the application fee is waived.
  • Official sealed high school transcript
  • Official sealed transcripts from all previous colleges attended
  • At least one letter of recommendation
  • An official score report from the General Education Development (GED) test, if applicable
  • An official score report from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if your native language is not English
  • You also may need to meet additional department-specific requirements. Contact the department for details.

What does a transfer student do once accepted?

Upon acceptance, you are encouraged to obtain an official evaluation of transfer credits. Transfer students should also meet with the appropriate department chairperson or a delegated academic advisor to obtain a full explanation of remaining degree requirements.

If you would like an evaluation of your prior college-level learning, please contact Judy Mullisky, Coordinator of Prior Learning Assessment, at 570-348-6211 x2480 or mullisky@marywood.edu.
